During 1998 Rotary completed a Feasibility Study into the construction of a Piggery and Fish Farm.

This sector of the project will general an annual surplus of F$20,000 as well as employment for between 15 and 20 villagers.

Organic waste collected from markets and restaurants in the Ba area will be fed to pigs.

The resulting effluent will be treated in a digester system to produce high protein fish food and methane. The methane will be used to fuel a diesel /methane 7.5 KVA generator that will provide power for pumping water.

Fish Farm

NZ $100,000 has already been raised to fund this development which also includes the provision of a Deep Well, Pumps, Motor Vehicles, a Methane Digester and Power Generation Plant.

Surplus power will be reticulated to the village cottages along with running water.

The fish food will be used in the adjacent fish rearing pond..
