At a meeting with the then Minister of Lands on the 8th day of February, 1994 the then District Governor Ron Thomas with a past District Governor Welly Choy both from Auckland made a special trip to Fiji to meet the then Minister of Lands and explain to the Minister that before Rotary committed its District Support it needed to appraise the project and explain that Government would need to assist the project by doing the infrastructure such as roads, drains, footpaths, water, power, etc. as Rotary funding would be restricted to homes and volunteers to build the homes. The Rotary delegation was assured that Government would assist through its Squatter Resettlement and through Poverty Alleviation fund. Mr. Dev. Chaudhary a Registered Civil Engineer has, been appointed as the Consulting Engineer for the Project and he has inspected the homes under construction and has given his certificate of approval. The first Rotacottage was built by Fairn Town Volunteers in 1997. After a two year evaluation other Rotacottages began to be constructed. Past District

first FAIM Team and did the first project of bringing water to the Village
