Film Festival Project

Festival Background

One of our Sunrise Club annual projects is a Film Festival which benefits over 2000 children who are intellectually handicapped, terminally ill or from disadvantaged families. These children are treated to an outing at the movies with drinks and popcorn. (see photos etc. below)

The project also provides support to other charitable causes. Last year (2000/2001), it was the Cystic Fibrosis Association (Canterbury Branch) as the major beneficiary.

The 1999/2000 year major beneficiary was the "Fathering the Future Trust." For more details of this trust please visit the Fathering the Future Trust website
Funds from 1999/2000 project have also gone to Odyessy House, and the Christchurch Children's Holiday Camps Trust.

In recent years we have been able to provide funding for research equipment required by the Oncology Department at the Christchurch Hospital and also a coffee lounge at the Burwood Spinal Unit where patients and families can enjoy some time together in a non-hospital environment and begin the rehabilitation process.

Funds have also been used in support of the "Books In Homes" programme through local primary schools.

Our thanks if you have been a supporter in this year or in previous years
