Rotary Support for Young People.

As well as tackling local issues, Rotary has annual programmes which the Rotary Club of Taupo supports to promote young people. These include:

Australia/New Zealand Matched Student Exchange

The purpose of this programme is to provide an opportunity for Australian and New Zealand students aged 13 1/2 - 16 to experience living and attending school in each other's country for a school term.

Our club facilitated an exchange in 2002 - click here for details ...

International Youth Exchange

This offers secondary school pupils aged 16 and 17 an opportunity to live with a family overseas, attending school and learning about another culture. In return, New Zealand families host incoming pupils. Participants describe it as a life-changing experience.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

This is a residential seminar/camp for young adults aged 18 to 23, bringing together people who have shown leadership qualities. Full-on activities include outdoor team building, discussions, meetings with inspirational figures, debates and interaction over a period of one week. Participants always include their Award selection in their resumes. Our club sponsored 4 young adults on the 2002 programme, and 2 on the 2003 programme.
