2002 Awardee - details follow below....
2002 Do it once. Do it well. Build a better New Zealand. The Pride in Workmanship Award is designed to acknowledge an employee, tradesperson, or office person working for a large or small employer, irrespective of age or vocation, who, in the eyes of the nominator or employer, displays outstanding qualities in terms of approach, attitude, dedication and commitment, to his or her job. The award is intended to cover all aspects of work performance and ethics, inclusive of quality and quantity of output, safety, initiative, sense of responsibility, etc. Pride in Workmanship is not a competition and there are no winners. It is a recognition of individual achievement and commitment. On Thursday 6 October 2002 our club was pleased to present this award to Taupo resident James Gourley. James was nominated by Rotarian Helen Mulvay who introduced James and made these comments: James is a self employed builder who has lived in Taupo for 22 years. I have known James for about 7 years and he has carried out renovations in our home. During the time I have known James other trades people have told me how good a builder and craftsman he is. His motto seems to be: "I'd rather not take a job on if any shortcuts will compromise my workmanship and the outcome and the quality of the job." ******
