HOT CROSS BUNS!

One a Penny!  Two a Penny!  Hot Cross Buns!

With these fundraising thoughts in mind, in conjunction with Bread Street Bakery, the Rotary Club of Mont Albert & Surrey Hills initiated a project involving the sale of Hot Cross Buns for Easter amongst the District 9810 Rotary Clubs.

Initiated for Easter 2005, the project was an excellent success with the proceeds of the project being split between the Rotary Club for its service projects and the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund (ARHRF).

Selling at $6 for a half dozen in 2005, and then by the dozen in 2006 ($12 per dozen), for each dozen sold by another club, MASH forwarded on $3 to the ARHRF in the selling club's name.

In 2005, we sold 3,246  buns and 3,186 buns in 2006 with $811.50 and $805 being remitted to the ARHRF for medical health research in the two years respectively.  What a great outcome – a real Win! Win!.

A special thank you goes to the David Winter, owner of Bread Street Bakery and Rotarian at MASH who so generously assists with this project.  This is a wonderful hands on project, roll up the sleeves, don the aprons and start packing the buns.  Then delivering to clubs, checking out what is happening around and about the District.

The Rotary Club of Mont Albert & Surrey Hills have been innovative in their fundraising through food – thank you to Bread Street in particular.
