Make the most of your Digital Camera!

Hands on Workshops
You have probably wondered why some of your photographs look great - while others are, well, a bit ho-hum.

Malcolm Brownlee, one of Melbourne's leading professional photographers, and a great communicator, has agreed to support the community by donating his time and expertise to help you unlock the secrets of your digital camera.

You will learn the secrets and tricks the professionals use. Take a look at the pictures in our students' galleries below. These were taken by course participants after just three sessions. You too can take pictures like these!

The Digital Photography Course For Advanced Amateurs is a vocational service program jointly conducted by The Rotary Clubs Of Monash and Nunawading and supported by Audio Visual Displays with the sponsors listed.

All funds raised go to the local and international community service programs of the Rotary Clubs whose sites can be visited by clicking on the links above.

Workshop Details
The Rotary Digital Photography Course comprises 15 hours tuition over 5 nights, with a supervised location shoot, light suppers and transport provided. Courses are run over 5 consecutive Tuesday Nights, at the Black Flat Community Hall, Cnr Waverley and Springvale Roads Glen Waverley (Melway 71 C4) , commencing at 7 00 PM (except for the Location Shoot which commences at 6.00 PM.) All sample photographs depicted on this site have been taken by students on the location shoots and are typical of the results achieved by ALL STUDENTS.

The course is designed for keen amateurs who wish to improve their techniques and photographic results. It consists of 2 nights theory (covering lens, aperture and shutter use, depth of focus, dynamic range), 2 nights of data transfer and storage systems, computer enhancement with an introduction to Photoshop retouching techniques, and revision, and one full night on location. A visit to a professional photo lab and picture framer are included.

A follow-up course of 15 hours tuition on advanced Photoshop Techniques is available.

Course Requirements
Access to a PC is a basic requirement, and whilst having a digital camera is an advantage, a 35 mm SLR will suffice. Students considering the purchase of a camera would be well advised to wait as valuable advice on basic camera requirements will be provided, and will probably influence such a decision. Students gain most if home study (of the theory components) is undertaken between sessions.
