Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak - Pride of Workmanship Awards 2010

The Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak had much pleasure in conducting the annual Rotary Pride of Workmanship Awards on Wednesday 28 April 2010 to acknowledge the outstanding achievements and commitment to their workplace of 12 members of the Orange community workforce.

The Pride of Workmanship Awards (POWA) program was launched by RC Pennant Hills, D9680, in 1975. The program’s initial objective was to encourage a much-needed pride in personal performance in the work-place and to create a national attitude for an Australia wide benefit. From this program evolved the Motto: “Do it once, Do it well. Build a better Australia”.

POWA is designed to acknowledge an employee, irrespective of age, gender, vocation, in the eyes of his or her employer, displays outstanding qualities in terms of approach, attitude and commitment to his or her job. It is intended to cover all aspects of work performance and ethics, including the quality of work output, initiative, sense of responsibility as well as pride in their work practice and an ability to lead when needed.

POWA is not a competition and there are no winners – rather it is recognition of individuals and their achievement and commitment to their work.

RC Orange Daybreak has been actively involved with POWA program for past eight years and this year the Club committee comprising Paul Rowland, Roger Duff, Deidre Fowler, and Karen Somers were delighted to receive 12 nominations each of whom were selected to receive a POWA. In acknowledgement of each nominee was presented with this very special award by President Denise Martin. The recipients are as follows:
