SERVICE IN THE COMMUNITY |
WHAT IS ROTARY?
Rotary is the world’s
first humanitarian service organisation.
Clubs
provide opportunities for members to have fun, network with like-minded people
and at the same time improve their community through local projects. There are
also opportunities to support and participate in community humanitarian and
educational programs locally and internationally.
Rotary
was founded in 1905 and is now a global network of over 1.2 million members in
more than 32,000 Clubs in 168 countries. There are 34,000 members in Australia.
Rotarians
provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in their
occupations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
The
Rotary motto is: “Service Above Self”.
Rotary
Clubs are nonreligious, nongovernmental and open to every race, culture and
creed.
Rotary
Club members are a cross section of the local business and professional people
who volunteer their time and resources to help others in their local
communities and the world.
Many
Rotary projects and programs focus on improving the quality of life, skills and
providing developmental and mentoring opportunities for our youth.
Through
Rotary’s international exchange programs, youth, scholars and professionals can
experience the culture and people of another land and return home to share
their new understanding and knowledge with others.
Health
is another significant priority. The Australian Rotary Health Research Fund
sponsors major research projects into improving national health outcomes with
the recent focus on mental health. The Rotary Foundation’s PolioPlus program is
close to eliminating polio from the world. Two billion children have been
immunized, 5 million have been spared disability and over 250,000 deaths from polio
have been prevented.
Over 38 years of service to the Orange and
surrounding community. The Rotary Club of Orange North was chartered on 20 June
1970 and has been supporting local community projects as well as youth and
international activities of Rotary ever since.

Christmas Street Party and other events. We man gates at the show and other
events such as the Gnoo Blas Classic and NRL trial matches.
These
community and fundraising activities are fun with great camaraderie and at the
same time provide essential funds that benefit the community.
We are one of 4 Rotary clubs in
Orange.
Our
members are:
1. men in their 30s to their
70s
2. from a range of business
and professional backgrounds
3. partners and families are
welcomed to participate in Club projects and activities
4. We are involved in the
Orange community and the wider global community in many different ways – as a
club and as individuals.
Our
weekly meetings involve a dinner, fun and interesting guest speakers on wide
ranging topics or sometimes a behind the scenes visit to a local business,
industry or institution.
We
enjoy our meetings and think you will too. They are an opportunity to unwind,
enjoy camaraderie, maybe do some networking, discuss topical issues or learn
about something different! We are flexible and strive to keep involvement in
Club activities affordable and fun for all members. We are family friendly and
welcome family involvement in meetings and activities.
We
usually meet at 6.00 for 6.30pm on Thursday evenings (not on public holidays)
at the Orange Ex-Services Club, Anson St. and conclude about 8.00pm.
