Rotary Club of Central Blue Mountains

Centennial Fountain and Garden

The year 2005 marked the 100th anniversary of Rotary International, and Clubs around the world undertook special projects to celebrate the Centennial. The Rotary Club of Central Blue Mountains, in conjunction with other community volunteers, put in a water feature, pathway and gardens in the Blue Mountains and District ANZAC Memorial Hospital. The garden provides a peaceful setting for patients and visitors to relax and to put aside their cares for a while. The pathway consists of pavers inscribed with the names of volunteers, families from the district, and the Rotary Club Presidents. The water feature is a stainless steel fountain set in a pond. The fountain was designed by noted local sculptor Terrance Plowright, who donated his time and effort in designing and constructing the fountain. Rotarian Peter Carroll, who was President in 2003-2004 when the project was initiated, was the driving force behind the organisation, the fundraising and the many working bees that saw the project completed in 2007.
