NEWS - GNOME RESCUE

On Saturday 25th July, the LOWER BLUE Gnome Rescue team raced to the rescue of 1500 gnomes, imprisoned in a garden in Cootamundra!

As luck would have it for these poor gnomes, the solicitor dealing with the deceased estate knew all about our Gnome Convention - and so, via the AustralianGnomeconvention.com.au website, contacted our very own David Cook, webmaster to ask if we could rescue these orphaned gnomes.

Could we? We could. On Saturday. suitably dressed in the Gnome Rescue uniform of white jumpsuits labelled 'Gnome Rescue Team' and red Gnome hats, John Dawson, Trevor Lloyd, David Cook and Karalyn Brown, took off at dawn on the long long road to Cootamundra. There, met and aided by Cootamundrian Rotarians, the gnomes - except for 4 - were loaded into Utes, trailers, cardboard boxes and the back of 4WDs. The 4 that didn't make the journey to the Blue Mountains found homes with the children across the road.

Carers will be found in the Blue Mountains among the other gnomes fostered by Lower Blue and others and will come along on Australia Day to the Annual Gnome Convention to chat to their new mates.
