The Club was chartered in 1971 and has always met at Club
Coffs, the former Coffs Harbour Catholic Club.
The Club has
been involved in numerous local and overseas projects over the years.
The Club
established Rotary Park, near the Council Chambers and
in recent years has renovated it and
re-roofed the picnic tables.
The Club has constructed a shelter over the playground
at Coffs Harbour Public School.
We have also
supported the Coffs Rotary Club in building of
the PCYC premises and the Shearwater Lodge at the Coffs
Harbour
Health Campus.
We sponsor local students and youth to attend MUNA
(Modeal United Nations Assembly) and other Rotary Youth Programs such as
Rymarine, Rystars and RYLA.
The Club has
been involved in the Rotary District’s
Pacific Islands
Training Program and has brought to
Coffs Harbour a
number of young persons from the
Solomon Islands
who, after completing their local
training
courses in their own country, have worked
in our local
area for 12 weeks, gaining further
training on
modern equipment, using modern
techniques.
With other
District Clubs we support the Rotary Foundation in the eradication of
Polio, we support the provision of Peace Scholarships and the supply of
sewerage systems and clean water.
We support RAM
(Rotarians against Malaria) and have adopted a Pacific village, providing
mosquito nets and training.
The Australian
Rotary Health Research Program is involved with research programs into
mental health, prostate cancer and motor neurone disease, the Club also
supports these projects.
The recent
tsunami in the Solomons left thousands homeless
and the Club
provided 2 Shelter Boxes to house and provide
shelter for 2
