NATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE FORUM – PERTH 2010
http://www.nysf.edu.au/
Congratulations to Abbey Wilson on her
selection to attend the National Youth Science Forum -
Perth 2010. Abbey has kindly furnished the following statement:
My name is Abbey Wilson and I’m seventeen years old. I attend
Coomera Anglican College and am very interested in science. I am
currently studying Geography, Chemistry, Biology, Business as well
as Maths, English and religion.
I have attended many Rotary events or have been sponsored by Rotary
for example the Rotary Youth Enrichment Program, Siemens Science
Experience, and I was just selected to attend the National Youth
Science Forum held in Perth 2010.
In the future, I hope to become a Geography teacher, and study Earth
Science and Social Science at university.
From a young age, I have been fascinated by rocks, volcanoes and
everything that makes up the earth. I also have a passion for
biology, particularly plants, so I love to garden.
Colin Wilson has advised that Abbey has just
been elected as House Captain for her final year at Coomera Anglican
College.
Abbey is following in the footsteps of her
sister, Jessie, who was sponsored to NYSF by Parkwood Rotary Club,
and had an ongoing involvement over the past three years.
We are indebted to Colin Wilson
for the following update concerning Jessie:
Abbey's sister Jessie, who was sponsored by Parkwood Rotary, also
attended NYSF, but in Canberra in January 2007. In that same year
she was chosen to travel to South Africa to attend the South African
Youth Science Forum. Jessie was then chosen to become a team leader
for the 2008 Canberra NYSF and then again as a co-ordinator/mentor
for 2009. She has taken leave from her studies of a dual degree-
Environmental Management and also Political Science at the
University of Queensland and is at present in the United Kingdom.
