As part of Ergon Energy and Rotary’s commitment to the Arts in Central Queensland, they are pleased to announce the Ergon Energy Rotary Bursary for New and Emerging Artists (18-25yrs) 2005.

In supporting the role of artists in the community it is envisioned that this bursary will be of assistance in developing professional practice for young artists.

The bursary recipient will receive a single payment of $2,000.

Judging will be by a panel of representatives from Ergon Energy, Rotary, Art Teachers and other professionals from the Art Industry.

ELIGIBILITY

This Bursary is awarded to new and emerging artists:

· Whose permanent residence is located in Livingstone, Broadsound, Fitzroy or Rockhampton shires.

· Whose age is 18-25 yrs as at 31st March 2005.

NOMINATIONS

· Single page A4 resume, Minimum 5 /Maximum 10 photographs of work; each mounted on an A4 page

· Each photo must be clearly labelled with: title of work, date of completion, media used, size of work and location.

· Any media clippings, catalogues or promotional material

· Answer the following questions in less than 500 words in total.

1. Where will your Art career be in five years time?

2. What specific area of the Visual Arts have you chosen and why?

3. What benefits would this bursary provide for you?

CONDITIONS

Recipients of the Ergon Energy Rotary Bursary For New and Emerging Artists will be required to enter the Capricorn Rotary Arts Competition in the year following the receipt of the Bursary. It is requested that the recipient of the Bursary contact Rotary after 12 months with a view to encouraging other new and emerging artists.

Resume and answers to selection criteria would demonstrate INTENT to:

1. Use the Bursary for professional intent (study, workshop, framing for exhibition etc.)

2. Some level of intent for benefit to local community.

3. Some knowledge of developments in selected skills area.

Judgement: Portfolios would be judged as showing evidence of:

1. Underpinning skills and knowledge already acquired and practised.

2. Level of creative and innovative inquiry.

3. Level of aesthetic awareness and professionalism.

Closing date: 8 th  April 2005

Winner announced 29th April 2005 at the opening of the Capricorn Coast Art Festival.

Nominations should include a stamped self-addressed envelope for returning of visual documentation.
