All
entries must be the original unaided work of the entrant, completed within
two (2) years of the opening of the Festival and not awarded a major prize
in another competition. All elements of the entries in the Computer-assisted
Images Category must be the artist’s own work. Where artwork is used in
the computer-assisted images, the artwork must be attached to the back of
each entry.

The
Youth Category is restricted to students enrolled in secondary schools. The
student’s entry form must be countersigned by the Principal of the school
concerned.

The catalogue will be compiled from the information provided on the entry
form. Artists must ensure that each work has been entered in the
correct category and that its title and sale price are correct.

Entry
fees of $15.00 per work ($5.00 for secondary school students) together with
the entry form must be received by Colin Dore, Capricorn Coast
Art Festival Committee, 56 Bright Street, Emu Park, Qld. 4710 no later than
Monday 10th April 2006.

Artists
may enter multiple works in a category but a particular work can only be entered in one
category only. For example, an art work can be entered in either
the open or pastel categories but not both.

Each
entry shall be clearly marked on the back with the Competitor’s NAME and
ADDRESS, CATEGORY, TITLE, MEDIUM and PRICE together with INSTRUCTIONS FOR
COLLECTION OR RETURN.

The
maximum
dimensions
of works, including
mounts and frames, must
not exceed 1.5 square metres.
Works exceeding this parameter will NOT be
judged.

Frames
should be fitted with D rings with cords or wire attached.

Packing
must be of a quality to allow its re-use for safe return of unsold art work
-
All
judged works will be displayed. Prizes shall be awarded at the judge’s
discretion. The judge’s decision shall be final and binding, and no
correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

Should
any dispute arise on a matter for which no specific rule is laid down, the
matter will be determined by the Capricorn Coast Art Festival Committee.

All
works (except Youth Category where sale is optional) must be for sale
provided that a winning work in an acquisitive category will become the
property of the respective sponsor upon the announcement of the judge’s
decision.

The
Capricorn Coast Art Festival Committee shall retain twenty-five per cent
(25%) commission from the sale price of all works sold (the GST ex price for
registered artists).

A
packaging fee of $5.00 (per
parcel) will apply to all entries not hand delivered to the Capricorn
Coast Art Festival Committee.

Return
freight charges must be pre-paid. The payment or confirmation of
payment (e.g. labels, stamps) must be received before the commencement of
the Festival. The committee agrees to refund the pre-paid return
freight and packaging charges for sold art works. Where return freight
is not received, the works will be retained and disposed of as the committee
sees fit.

The
organisers accept no liability for loss of or damage to entries either in
the course of transit or while such entries are in the custody of the
Capricorn Coast Art Festival Committee. However, all due care will be taken
of entries submitted. Insurance remains the responsibility of the
competitor.

Works
will be received at the Yeppoon
Town Hall, Normanby Street, Yeppoon,
between 9.00am and
5.00pm from Thursday 18th April to Monday 22nd April 2006.

Competitors
shall allow their work to be reproduced by the media without fee for
publicity purposes.

Unsold
works may be collected by local or visiting artists or their agents at the
close of the exhibition, i.e. from 12.00 noon until 5.00pm on Sunday 7th May
or from 9.00am till 12 noon on Monday 8th May 2006.
The Rotary Club of Yeppoon Inc. ABN 94 621 079 599, the
organisers of the
Capricorn Coat Art Festival is no longer a GST registered organisation. Accordingly it DOES NOT collect
GST.
Where a work of art is sold from a GST registered artist the
artist will be responsible for remittance of the GST on the supply to the
Australian Taxation Office.
The Rotary Club of Yeppoon will act as an agent in the sale of
art worksand all artworks sold will transfer directly from the artist to the
purchaser and monies less commission will be remitted to the artist.
It is therefore imperative that GST registered artists ensure that
they include the GST inclusive price when advising of the sale price of their
goods. The Rotary Club of Yeppoon will retain its commission from the GST
free component of the price and forward the balance plus the GST from the sale
to the artist for remittance to the Australian Taxation Office.
