Introduction - About these educational resources
.
This section contains information intended to assist teachers to get the most out of their Rotary Trees for Survival shadehouse as an educational resource. The shadehouse can be a valuable aid in meeting the objectives of Environmental Education syllabus, having many cross-curricula applications. Some of these are exampled in the relevant parts of this section.

Schools participating in Trees for Survival before June 2000 received a 'hard copy' of a 'Teachers' Resource Kit' containing these lesson plans, amongst other information. This section is an edited version of that kit and is available here for downloading

to anyone interested in using the approaches demonstrated here.

'Extension Activities' gives examples of how the Trees for Survival program complements many other programs taken up by schools, each adding value to the other if pursued in tandem.

'Annual Planner' is a month by month guide to the activities in the shadehouse and is a useful tool in scheduling and planning the tasks. How the lessons fit in with these tasks is detailed under ' Timing and Integrating Lessons With The Shadehouse Program

' in both the K - 6 and 7 - 10 sections.

Why getting the timing right for the shadehouse tasks is so important is discussed under 'What Am I Aiming For In My Plants'? You will find this in the 'Shadehouse' section.
