NEVER ‘MISSION IMPOSSIBLE”!
Rotary’s Mission - which we have chosen to accept - is “Service Above Self”.
The mission of Australian Rotary’s “Presidential Membership Conference” is “Rotary 2020: The Next Generation” - “Going Forward with a New Model for Rotary”.
|
|
Your Mission - should you choose to accept - is to be part of this historic conference - a first for Australia, at a crucial time with all Australians challenged to set priorities for the future.
We Rotarians have a remarkable record of service and forethought. How else could so much be achieved by so few? After all we are less than 0.15% of our nation’s population - about 1:600 Australians!
How do we do it? How much better to serve if there were more of us to boost that percentage? How will Rotary fit into PM Kevin Rudd’s call for more community participation and service? Maybe Rotary as the catalyst!
How do we convince ”busy people” that they need Rotary? That they can make a difference by joining with other Rotarians to maximise their voluntary service contributions? Do we ‘practice what we preach about communication techniques internally and externally?
Do we figure in “The Next Generation” equation? What will Australian Society and attitudes to volunteerism be like in the immediate years ahead - and by 2020?
So how does the Australian public “see” Rotary? What is our profile, our image - through the eyes of potential Rotarians - and the community at large? Does it fit with our own internal perceptions?
That’s the “Presidential Membership Conference” Mission - together to listen, debate and decide a “New Model” for the benefit of all - you, me and the Australian and overseas communities that we serve.
Please join us - bring your bright ideas and be prepared to produce outcomes from 4 hours of workshops and discussion groups slotted between hard hitting presenters like Sir William Deane, The Hon Jenny Macklin, Cary Pedicini, Peter Ruehl and Tim Cuddihy. Mix it with then RI President DK Lee, RI Membership and Retention Committee Chairman PRID Ron Beaubien and get to know our new RI Director John Lawrence
WHEN DOES IT START? Friday 11 July: 1300 for Membership Chairs and Directors
1800 for PMC Reception and Opening
WHEN DOES IT FINISH? Sunday 13 July: 1230 after the Finale - “Hands Across the Nation”
