SEEDLING MAINTENANCE
Please refer to the 'Annual Planner' for a month by month description of maintenance tasks. Once the seedlings are thinned to one per tube, your main tasks are to check watering is adequate to the weather conditions (longer in hot weather and as the plants grow-on, using more water, less in cool weather), adding fertilisers once or twice over the period and removing weeds that compete for light and nutrients.
THE FINISHED PRODUCT
The plants are ready for planting when they are:-

a height of one to one-and-a-half times the height of the tube. |

|
standing up by themselves and have a good strong stem |

•
|
equipped with a good healthy root system. |

•
|
disease-free. |
